Looking for beauty and poetry in the urban and natural landscapes.
Josiane Dias is a Brazilian photographer currently living between New York and Geneva, Switzerland. Since 1993, when she left her hometown, Curitiba, she has lived in Geneva, Tokyo, New York and Tel Aviv. Experiencing so many different cultures has influenced her photography in different levels.
Her work is inspired by the urban and natural landscape, but not in a straightforward sense. She looks for the unnoticed and the unexpected detail in these landscapes, for something ephemeral, poetic.
Josiane studied at the International Center of Photography and at the National Academy School in New York, NY.
Her work has been featured in several group exhibitions in New York (National Academy Museum, Soho Photo Gallery, Sonia Gechtoff Gallery, United Nations Headquarters) and abroad (Rome, Venice, Tel Aviv and Nagoya).
She has had two solo exhibitions: The first one at the Brazilian Consulate-General Gallery in New York and the second at the Jaffa Theater Gallery, Israel.
She has also participated in international art fairs such as SCOPE Miami, ARTEXPO New York and The Affordable Art Fair New York.
Her work is included in private collections in the United States, Israel, Brazil and Swtizerland.
